The story Specialist HQ tells is a little hard to follow, as there’s no specific order for the Specialists, but it’s neat nonetheless. Their introductory missions are laced with story cutscene. The multiplayer does get some narrative direction from the Specialist HQ, which serves as a good training ground for each of the multiplayer characters. While we only got climbing animations in PUBG long after the release, in Black Ops 4 we run and slide briskly over the terrain and take obstacles without any problems. Did it work? Yes! Because Blackout takes the best bits of the competition, but doesn’t repeat their problems, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is still considered a clumsy and unoptimized battle royale experience with imprecise controls. However, the developers’ full-bodied promise was not to reinvent battle royale, but to do it better than everyone else. Finally it goes into battle, of the 100 players there is only one left at the end, or a remaining team. All players start out in the air and jump over the map, fly to one of the many hotspots and stock up on weapons and equipment. The challenger is relatively poor in innovation compared to the competition from Fortnite: Battle Royale and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. With three solid maps and new modes, Zombies has a meaty launch plus, Blackout and multiplayer have that attractive gameplay loop that keeps me drawn in. This is certainly disappointing for some, but, for me, Black Ops 4 gets along just fine without it. Though there are significant changes to each mode’s formula, the biggest change is Black Ops 4’s lack of a classic campaign.
